Building Homes for a Stronger Community
In celebration of the inauguration of Notre Dame’s 18th president, Rev. Robert A. Dowd, C.S.C., the University partnered with Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County for Inauguration Build 2024, bringing together nearly 750 volunteers to construct five affordable homes in South Bend. I designed materials to support the project and ensure a smooth experience for all participants.

The Challenge
Inauguration Build 2024 was a significant collaboration between two established organizations—Habitat for Humanity of South Bend and Notre Dame University. The challenge was to create a volunteer manual that incorporated both organizations’ branding while communicating essential logistical information clearly and providing a unified experience for nearly 750 volunteers.
The Solution
I carefully blended the branding elements of both organizations, balancing Habitat’s warm, welcoming visual identity with Notre Dame’s bold, scholarly aesthetic. The volunteer manual included detailed maps, event schedules, rules and regulations, and information about partnership programs, prioritizing readability and functionality. The final design reflected the collaborative spirit of Inauguration Build 2024 while giving volunteers the tools they needed to contribute effectively.
