Retired Indiana Public Employees Association
Refreshing RIPEA
The Retired Indiana Public Employees Association (RIPEA) is an organization that represents and advocates for the interests of retired public employees in Indiana. As part of a branding refresh, the organization sought to modernize their logo to better reflect their values and appeal to a broader audience.

The Challenge
RIPEA’s logo, with its three lines of text, made it difficult to read, especially given the length of the organization's name. The challenge was to create a new logo that maintained legibility while being patriotic and incorporating the shape of Indiana. At the same time, the new design needed to feel modern and align with the association’s mission, while keeping the logo reflective of the values and pride of retired public employees in Indiana.
The Solution
To create a modern yet familiar logo for RIPEA, I integrated the shape of Indiana into the design, using red and navy blue hues to evoke a patriotic feel, while the red stripes of the American flag formed the central element of the letter "A" in "RIPEA," adding visual interest and symbolic meaning. The result was a clean, legible logo that balanced tradition with modernity. I further developed a comprehensive branding book to ensure consistent use across media and animated the logo to enhance its digital presence, bringing the refreshed design to life.
